The PSAT and the AP tests are available for home-schooled students
eligible to attend school in Big Spring.
PSAT Testing
The 2009
PSAT
will be offered on October 13th at 8:00 a.m. 9th,
10th, and 11th grade Pre-AP English students will
be registered through their English classes. Homeschooled students may
also register for this exam. Homeschooled students must contact Mrs.
Tanya Cartwright at (432) 264-3641 ext. 1412 in order to register
and pay for their exam. The registration deadline for homeschooled
students is Sept. 24, 2010.
Advanced
Placement (AP) Testing
AP tests allow high school students to earn college credit by exam. All
BSHS AP students will be registered for the exam through their AP
classes. These tests are offered in May, and the dates are set by the
College Board.
AP tests are also available to homeschooled students for a fee. Any
interested homeschooled students must contact Mrs. Tanya Cartwright
at (432) 264-3641 ext. 1412 in order to register and pay for their
exam. The registration deadline for homeschooled students is February
10, 2011.
ACT
Testing
College-bound Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to take the
ACT
exam. BSHS will cover the cost for students to take the exam once
during the junior and senior year.
Steps to take the ACT:
1.
Pick up a registration packet in Student Services.
2.
Return your packet to your counselor by the deadline (please note that
our deadlines are earlier than ACT’s deadlines!)

You will receive an admission letter in the mail, which will show your
testing location.
4.
Do you have a photo I.D.? If not, see your counselor ASAP.

Want to prepare? BSHS has subscribed to
ACT Online Prep.

6.
On your test date, report to your testing location (usually Howard
College) by 7:45 a.m. Bring your admission letter, a photo I.D., and a
calculator. You will finish testing around noon.
7.
Your scores will be available in about 6 weeks. You will receive them
by mail.
ASVAB
BSHS will offer the
ASVAB
exam on Oct. 5, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. This exam is not only a military
entrance exam, but also a great tool for students who need help deciding
on a career. A sign up sheet will be placed in the main office.
Students must sign up by Sept. 25th.
